Big Day Out website has big crash
Mar 01, 2010
The Kent Big Day Out website has crashed just minutes after it opened because of huge demand.
Visit Kent, the organisers of the March 27 event, is giving away 18,000 tickets to at least 100 attractions, but it seems the website was unprepared for the rush to secure the briefs.
Chief executive Sandra Matthews-Marsh apologised for the shut-down. The site should be up and running again by next week, she said.
"This is a technical issue which is going to take a little time to resolve. I am asking everyone to be patient and come back when all the technical problems have been resolved."
Tickets downloaded before the website crashed will still be valid, she said.
Kent Big Day Out is number four out of five Big Days Out organised to lead the UK up to the 2012 Olympic Games.
Sports centres, football clubs, animal parks, country walks, museums and historical sites are all taking part.
