How we do it

The Site Confidence load testing service simulates the activity of a large number of concurrently active end users against your web site. The testing methodology is similar to that of monitoring although the infrastructure is separate.

The load testing engagement is made up of a number of main phases:

Scripting of business processes

This process involves recording a single user journey through the web application. We then write scripts to represent a number of users completing these user journeys.

Script verification

This involves running each of the scripts individually, initially a single user, and then with a limited number of users (typically up to 10 users). The purpose of these tests is to ensure that the scripts are robust and to identify any steps in the key business processes where the application performs badly, even at low levels of load.

Performance testing

All the scripts are then run together in the appropriate proportions. By gradually increasing the number of users, it should be possible to simulate the workload of a corresponding number of real users. Our load testing portal can be used to create, run and see the results of load tests (historically and in real time as they happen).

Results analysis and interpretation

This involves using the Site Confidence load testing portal to report the results in graphical and tabular form. You can then investigate any possible correlations between the amount of user activity and poor application availability or response times.

Professional services are available to support you during the load testing process.
