Our ‘Performance Analyser’ service uses multiple real browsers to test your entire website, helping you to understand how client-side performance affects your users. This powerful automated service helps you to optimise your website to all users:

  • Site-wide analysis: scan the breadth and depth of your entire website, including external third party links, with a one touch crawl to identify the worst performing and largest pages. It also allows automated, scheduled performance audits to identify trends over time.
  • Multi-browser testing: Test your site from the most commonly used real browsers. We will highlight how your site’s speed varies across each of them.
  • Visual analysis: Capture an image sequence of your page load and a screenshot when fully rendered. Overlay and compare by browser type. Replay that visual representation (coming soon) for clearer identification of performance problems.
  • Consistency: By using a repeatable methodology using the same connection speed each time, you get consistent measurements you can compare over time. Our results portal provides rich reporting, historical comparisons and specific performance improvement advice.

It provides the essential metrics that an organisation needs to identify and audit the on-going performance of a website across the browsers that are important to its customers.

Performance Analyser has a range of key features that allow an in-depth analysis of poor-performing parts of your site:

  • Portal-based SaaS means no infrastructure or software licence costs. All of your data is stored in one central location making sharing of results quick and easy.
  • Multiple real browsers allow capture of render times, DOM load, OnLoad and other advanced timing metrics. Compare performance of your pages across Internet Explorer (IE6, IE7, IE8, IE9) and Firefox (Firefox 2, Firefox 3, Firefox 3.6, 4.0). More browsers will be added soon…
  • Automated and scheduled site crawls test the whole site to identify the worst performing pages. You can control the depth, breadth and duration of your analysis. Simply input your starting URL, select how many pages you would like to crawl, select the total duration of the test and whether you would like to branch out to testing 3rd party links too and click go. You can also schedule this to run the same job on a regular basis which is powerful for auditing.
  • Consistent measurements for comparable results. A controlled environment with dedicated connectivity ensures consistent and repeatable testing. That allows you to validate the performance improvements you make to your site over time.
  • Visual Capture: we can capture a visual image of all rendered pages, whether for a single page, multiple pages or even a crawl. You can compare rendered pages across multiple browsers to identify visual variations that could affect user experience. Coming soon is the ability to replay a video of the pages as it renders.
  • Competitor site comparisons. Easily compare your site's performance to that of your competitors and, more importantly, whether their site is performing more quickly. See how their site is made up and what performance techniques they have implemented for performance gain.

As websites become increasingly complex, there are many parts that can affect performance and therefore user experience: PPC landing pages, content-rich product pages, 3rd party tags, links or pages, advertising banners, social media widgets etc. Performance Analyser helps you to root out any drag on performance, and helps you to rectify problems immediately.

Access to Performance Analyser is via an online portal. It is fully integrated into the Site Confidence SaaS portal hub and can be added to your account in minutes.

The portal enables you to run a test on any URL, group of URLs or an entire website, in your choice of real browser or across browsers, at the click of a button. You can view summary reports or drill down to object level details, and even inspect the HTTP headers for each request. The results help you to identify performance issues quickly:

  • Identify opportunities to speed up your site, reduce bandwidth and infrastructure costs
  • Compare page objects across different browsers
  • See full object level waterfall graphs with detailed timing data for each object to help identify areas of improvement
  • Capture detailed performance metrics like render start time, DOM load, OnLoad etc.
  • View HTTP Headers showing exactly what request and response data is transferred between the browser and the server.

Furthermore, Performance Analyser includes specific advice on what you can do to react to performance problems and quickly improve your site.

For more details, see the What You Get section or click on the ‘Reporting Portal Screenshots’ graphic to the right.

Performance Analyser has a cost per test pricing model.

You can buy bundles of 1,000, 10,000 and 50,000 tests. An example of a test is as follows: If you test the performance of your homepage in five browsers, this will use up five of your purchased tests.

The bundles of tests vary in price based on whether you require just performance measurements, performance measurements and visual capture, or all functionality including video storyboarding.
